Certifying the Copies of Chinese Documents
What is a certified copy?
A certified copy (also known as an original certification) is when a notary public certifies a copy based on the original to be true to the original. There are two types of certified copies: certified copies in Vietnamese and certified copies in foreign languages. The Asia Notary Office is authorized to certify both Vietnamese and foreign languages.
Which Chinese documents are allowed to be notarized?
Document Legalization Requirements:
- Official Documents from China: Original documents issued by Chinese government agencies or organizations must be legalized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Personal Documents from China: Originals prepared by individuals with official confirmation and seals from Chinese authorities also require legalization.
- Foreign Personal Documents: Original personal identification documents (e.g., passports, ID cards, residence cards) issued by foreign governments do not need consularization for notarizing copies.
- Chinese Passports with Nine-Dash Line: These passports cannot be notarized in Vietnam.
